Mexico City, MX. Lives and works in The Netherlands. Working at the intersection of diverse disciplines, methods, materials, and spaces, the practice of Alejandro Jiménez inquires on the ways we perceive and understand reality. Using painting, sculpture, installation, and sound, his work aims at destabilizing the rigidity of categorization in modern knowledge and experience by instead exploring ambivalence and difference as forms to create new meaning. Through a methodology of recollection and association, his work combines found objects, philosophy, sociology, and the sentient body, as a form of rehearsal of the real that can potentially be translated to the sociopolitical arena. His research often brings together unexpected pairings: zoology combines with geometry, aerodynamics juxtaposes with dance and poetry, architecture dialogues with the body and the ready-made, among others. Jimenez ultimately invites the viewer to rethink how poetic approaches can shift our experience of reality. Jiménez obtained a BFA in Fine Arts and Artistic Research at BEAR ArtEZ in The Netherlands (2025) while passing through Akademie der Bildenden Kunste Vienna with professor Iman Issa (2024). In summer 2025, he obtained the Arnhem Art Award nomination&nbsp;issued by the Museum Arnhem and was nominated for Current Current Award ArtEZ. ArtEZ Arnhem, The Netherlands 2025 Conceived as a spatiotemporal mind map of Jiménez’s ongoing research, (Alter-) inquiries on agency and movement, drawn from the notion of air as a resource to explore and mirror his personal experience with material and sociopolitical reflection. Influenced by poet and philosopher Edouard Glissant’s notion of opacity and errantry, and Donna Haraway’s defense on Situated Knowledges, Jiménez challenges the presumed solidity of knowledge and perception by allowing to maintain things hidden, unresolved, and unstable. (Alter-) combines sculpture, found objects, sound, poetry, and imagery, to convey a sense of subtle delirium, a psychogeography that confronts presence with memory, ambiguity with reality, and air with solidity: an in-between situation with different agencies in negotiation. Subtle material gestures are put in conversation with his latest series “Luchts” - sculptures that suggest aerodynamic bodies made with diverse materials and methods, including wind, that Jiménez developed over the past year in different contexts. Informed by Bosch’s De Tuin der Lusten and Loie Fuller’s Serpentine Dance, this airy state of affairs suggests the possibility of new, different, and other forms of producing (maybe only preliminary) conclusions, notions, and approximations to the appearance of space and the elements that activate it. Jiménez invites us to navigate this tacit&nbsp; situation, letting go the need for naming, grasping or concrete definitions as a form of rehearsal, resonating with the negotiations through as a new space and its very absence, and between the pictorial and the sculptural, respond to the experience of living in proximity to water infrastructures - a fundamental characteristic of the urban, sociopolitical, and spatiotemporal experience in the Netherlands. As in that country, these infrastructures, containing urban fluids and flows, create and organize space in planned, determined, and logical ways. By creating a route through space with these works, Jimenez seeks to question these logics and propose a reorganization where the ambivalence of the route provokes wandering and, therefore, a possibility of moving through space in an undetermined and free way. Through cuts, reconfigurations, or simple gestures such as suspending the object or changing its orientation, its material, functional, and formal layers are revealed and transformed. In this way, the series of sculptures seeks to trigger associations beyond their original use and form, alluding to organic elements, objects, the body, the more-than-human, the vegetal, and even the industrial. The objects, dialoguing with an ambivalent and suspended space and temporality, respond to concerns that surround Jiménez's practice. From experiments with the ready-made, the chain of associations that takes a simple gesture to a scale of multiplicity, aerodynamic and fluid objects, and the impossibility of categorizing reality within rigid, preconceived, and reductionist structures. The title refers to the preliminary, the unfinished or unofficial, and on the other hand to Bosch's work "The Garden of Earthly Delights," which was a pillar in the conception of this body of work, since, both in this series and in the work that inspires it, strange forms, unnameable creatures, a multiplicity of beings, intentions, forces, spaces, and times converge, hinting at a similar Netherlands 2025 Over the past year, Jimenez has been researching around the idea of a poetic of air as a way to re-think the modes of perception, navigation, and becoming, in relation to his affective immediate environments. By reflecting on his experience of moving from Mexico to Europe, Jimenez takes air as a potential to re-negotiate the inherent ambivalence and flux in identity, the processes of adaptation and belonging, and its nature of troubling the rigidity of modern knowledge and perception. Thus, the project aims at inquiring a poetic of air as a way to challenge fact-based epistemologies through sensorial and ambiguous experiences by mirroring it to the relational potential of air; always being shaped in relation to the surrounding conditions. Through gestures that often involve the whole body, Jiménez evokes the notion of aerodynamic flow, hinting at the boundless quality of air. The research began by asking "How to draw air?" and eventually transformed to "How to materialize the immaterial", giving a dynamic interplay between poetic and material approaches. The aluminum appears as a surface that reflects back the surrounding environment, however -unlike a mirror- it gives an opaque effect, suggesting the agency of the materiality and the motif of the where using a minimal amount of resources - circle, line, two colors, positive space and negative space - he makes infinite variations of diagrams that emulate the formation of eclipses. The series takes the concept of the eclipse as a relational phenomenon, in which, due to the accumulation of events in constant relation, the connection and position of&nbsp; planets materializes in an ephemeral way. Starting from this phenomenon, he looks for the infinite possibilities in which variation and composition allow multiplicity: from aesthetic-conceptual axes, to materialized relations. They are, at the end of the day, diagrams of interactions between elements mutually implicated with each other, doors for metaphors, allegories, or archipelagos. <img width="2767" height="3838" notions of symmetry, multiplicity, the formation of a body, and the in-betweens. These kaleidoscopic paintings start with an initial symmetric grid. Circles cover the entire canvas and the black paint constructs a body in the in-between spaces of the circles - where all the shapes meet each other. These paintings propose a view to the body, and not necessarily human-centered bodies, as these two opposite forms of growth (endogenous, exogenous) in mutual interaction. Diving into several layers that deal with notions of a body understood as the in-between of voids and volumes, the embodiment of multiplicity, and a speculative research on zoology beyond a fact-based representation, the Insect Paintings treats painting as sculpture: where void and volume play a role for constructing a body. Looking for ways to not answer but rather go deeper in the question of how can poetic approaches serve as means of relation between oneself and the other - say, a given context, phenomena, agency, or space - these subtle and idle alterations in public space are not intended as interventions, but as interactions. Daily strategies of relation that wonders and wanders around what an Other means and can mean. Walking in circles, reflecions with a mirror, making a contra-monument to the Cervo River, writing ambiguous messages in a basketball court, giving flowers to strangers, unravelling and ravelling a ball of wool along the river, spitting a chewed clementine to a monument, drawing parking squares around cars, making frottages of the city’s sewers, modulating sculptures with found objects, or
