Eclipse Paintings

This series of paintings is the backbone Jiménez’s practice. The marrow, which operates as a visual-conceptual base and tangent for more experimental, idle or long-term projects.

The Eclipse Paintings is a pictorial methodology where a minimal amount of resources - circle, line, two colors, positive space and negative space - forms infinite variations of diagrams that emulate, without necessarily representing, the formation of eclipses.
The series takes the concept of the eclipse as a relational phenomenon, in which, due to the accumulation of events in constant relation, the connection and position of  planets materializes these diagrams in an ephemeral way. Starting from this phenomenon, Jiménez’s looks for the infinite possibilities in which variation and composition allow multiplicity: from aesthetic-conceptual axes, to materialized relations. They are, at the end of the day, diagrams of interactions between elements mutually implicated in each other, doors for metaphors, allegories, or archipelagos.
